Ontario Provincial Standards

The OPS organization (MTO & MEA) produces standard specifications (OPSS) and drawings (OPSD) for use in Ontario.  MTO manages the publishing of these standards which are updated in April, July, and November.  The use of OPS standards is not mandatory therefore each infrastructure Owner determines which standards they will use (if any), and when they will implement and/or cancel them for use. This means that Owners may not be using the most "Current" version of a particular standard for design and construction purposes.  For MTO construction contracts, users must refer the specific standards that are referenced in the Tender documents.  For MTO design projects, users must refer to the specific standards that are "Active" for use in the ministry's Contract Preparation System (CPS), which may not be the newest version that has been published on this website. Users without access to CPS can obtain this information from sections D-205 and F-215 in Volume 1 of the MTO CDED Manual.
